Who She is
Jael began her dance journey very similar to most dancers: in a Ballet class at 3 years old. What started as a daycare option for her parents turned into a lifelong passion for herself. She holds dual degrees (with honors) from Grand Canyon University in Dance Performance and Entrepreneurial Studies.
She has proficient training in Hip Hop, Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Breaking, Ballroom, and Pom technique. Included amongst her training in these various styles is experience with several faucets of dance education. She has trained as and taught competitive studio dancers, high school teams, and done convention style work. Understanding the nuances required to teach in such various settings is one of her best strengths.
While Jael performed and taught extensively throughout her high school and college careers, she booked her first major job at 19 years old dancing for Parris Goebel in Rihanna’s Emmy Award-Winning Super Bowl Halftime Performance. She continues to teach locally in Arizona while taking professional work as it comes along. This includes dancing for the Phoenix Mercury as a member of their Hip Hop Squad under coach Weezy “Javi Star”.
While at GCU, Jael had further opportunities to not only work with industry professionals, but set multiple works of her own choreography. Jael relishes in creating work that can be easily appreciated and enjoyed by audiences, dancers, and other artists alike. She does not believe that a work has to be an extreme intellectual exercise to be considered art. It simply has to be seen.
